Salt is Show-and-Tell for grown-ups. Our goal is to give people an outlet for creative projects in an interactive, multi-disciplinary online setting.
We hope to create a sense of familiarity and community among our readers and contributors that we find lacking in other online and print publications. We aim to encourage people to express themselves creatively by sharing their personality and experiences with a wider audience, and we hope that Salt's contributors will inspire each other in further creative pursuits.
What We Mean By That
We want Salt to be a kick in the ass for people to produce and share
creative material. We also want readers and contributors to know each
other. So read the bio pages and email each other, dammit.
Salt Staff
Founders and Editors-in-Chief:
Catherine
and
Gene
are housemates. This is very convenient when Catherine decides at two in
the morning that she has had a brilliant idea and, instead of having to call
Gene on the phone or physically track him down, can just pound on the
thin wall that divides their bedrooms. Also, they can show up to
editorial meetings in their pajamas. And who doesn't like pajamas?
Contributing Editors:
Salt's contributing editors are the gas to our V-6 engine, the power
bar to our tri-athlete, the fertilizer to our potted plant. Creative
and talented to the one, they command our respect, support, and
appreciation. We demonstrate this by sending them affectionate emails
and providing them with millions of 'imaginary dollars' to spend at
their discretion. They are:
Sarah Montante,
Kyoung Kim,
Tom Bowtell,
Will Heinrich,
KC Trommer, and
Heidi Vogt.
Programmer:
Ivo
's philosophy, programming-wise, is 'Anything can be done. It's just
a question of how.' As non-programming-savvy Editors-in-Chief who
have no idea how difficult our ideas are to implement, we love this
mentality.
